Land Bank celebrates new home build on Dansville lot

A once-vacant property in Dansville is now home to a brand-new house — and officials say it’s the latest example of how the Livingston County Land Bank is helping transform neglected spaces into assets for the community.

The Land Bank acquired the property back in January 2022, cleared the lot, and partnered with local builders to construct a modular home. The site was officially redeveloped and sold this month.

“This project shows the ability of the Land Bank to acquire and develop properties that are often ignored,” said Board Chairman Dan Pangrazio. “Neglected properties like this one will often sit vacant for years, but the Land Bank has the ability to demolish and build new homes — providing a great benefit to these neighborhoods.”

Executive Director Megan Crowe credited Avon Modular Homes, Lakeview Construction, and Realtor Anthony Scorsone for helping make the project happen.

The Livingston County Land Bank was formed in 2017 to take on tax-delinquent, abandoned, and underused properties. Since then, the nonprofit has completed several successful redevelopments across the county.
