Stock Market Highlights: Sensex slips over 800 points from highs, Nifty fails to hold gains despite GST boost

The Sensex, after rising more than 800 points at its peak, gave up most of its gains to close just 150 points higher at 80,718, while the Nifty ended 19 points up at 24,734, nearly 270 points off the day’s high.
