Initially land off Clover Terrace was built on, with a further application for six homes approved by council planners in 2014.
But work was slow to start, with concerns raised in 2021 over the structural safety of homes in Clover Terrace, which overlooks the site.
Despite that, works later started in earnest, with several large homes mostly built and being marketed for sale by the end of 2022.
According to RJ Country Homes, which marketed the homes, some had even been sold subject to contract, listed at prices of around £450,000.
But despite the progress, things then ground to a halt, with the building site falling silent and the homes left unfinished.
Documents filed to Companies House revealed that building company Martin Bruce Homes Ltd, which was latterly responsible for the project, had fallen into financial difficulties, with receivers called in by May 2023.
The building site then sat for some considerable time with no work being carried out.
But now, activity appears to have restarted, with fencing opened up and vans and builders spotted on site.
It is understood that none of the homes, which stand in front and behind two huge retaining walls, were finished before the last building company ceased work on the site.
