Rhode Island Energy builds new home for osprey following power outage

Just days after an osprey nest caused nearly 3,000 Rhode Island Energy customers to lose power, the osprey now have a new home just yards away from the old nest site.

On Saturday, Rhode Island Energy crews installed a 50 foot pole on Kingstown Road with a platform for the osprey family to nest.

The new nesting site is only five feet away from the original nest.

Rhode Island Energy crews say the new pole not only gives the osprey a safe home to nest, but it will also prevent future power issues related to this particular nest.
