Former Army medic thankful to all those who are helping build her a new home

Editor’s note: NJ Advance Media reporter Linda O’Brien volunteered this week at a Morris Habitat for Humanity house being built for a military veteran. What follows is her account of working at the site, as well as meeting the future homeowners. Visit Morris Habitat for Humanity for more about their program and volunteer opportunities or call 973-891-1934.

Mylcaryz, who goes by Mickey, is a married mother of three who served as a medic in the Army for nine years. This veteran, whose last name is being withheld by NJ Advance Media for privacy reasons, has lived with her family in Perth Amboy for eight years. She and her husband, Hilton, have never owned a house in the city, but that is about to change.
