In reviewing the numbers, the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) found that, adjusting for inflation, CEO pay increased by 1,322.2% between 1978 and 2020. Meanwhile, the average annual income across the U.S. comes in at $63,214, and 1 in 3 Americans cannot afford to cover a $400 emergency.
