Mohammed Al-Rumaih, CEO of the Saudi Exchange
Options trading will start in the Saudi market as of the second quarter of 2023, Mohammed Al-Rumaih, CEO of the Saudi Exchange, told Asharq Business.
He added that options trading will be available for all investors under different requirements.
The products should be suitable for all investors to enhance liquidity, Al-Rumaih said, noting that they should be used as a hedge or to make profit.
Options boost market attractiveness and lure foreign and institutional investments.
These contracts will be initially available for certain stocks and depend mainly on liquidity, with diversification in sectors.
The options will be offered to shares of four to five companies, and they will be gradually increased, the CEO said.
He noted that this is subject to continuous evaluation.
